Wood Fired Nuka Slow Pour Set
Did you know? I love coffee. I've been drinking coffee since I was five. My Polish immigrant grandmother used to serve me tiny cups and add tons of cream so my mother wouldn't get angry with her.
To balance things, she did teach me to garden and to love birds.
Nuka is a wood ash glaze that has been used historically by Japanese and Korean potters. These artists traditionally used rice hull ashes and fired pieces to temperatures upwards of 2500 degrees F. I use ash from our very own Ash trees. It yields wonderfully unpredictable results.
Some are more "snowy" than others depending on glaze thickness. This process leaves me guessing and excited to open the kiln every time.
