Medium Cake Plate
Celadon glaze, cobalt, and melted Ash ash for a sweet server. A wonky kind of cake plate with a wonderful ovular tilt. This happens in the wood kiln when things get crazy and the pots and wood and ash stay up all night dancing.
Celadon is a term for pottery denoting both wares glazed in the jade green celadon color, and a type of transparent glaze, often with small cracks, that was first used on greenware, but later used on other porcelains. Celadon originated in China.
I use ash from our very own Ash trees in this celadon glaze. It yields wonderfully unpredictable results.
