I began making these tile dishes while at Truro Center For The Arts a few summers ago. I love the tactile experience of forming these substantial but delicate pieces from hunks of clay. The wood fire really did favors for this piece, warming up the sweet, smoky shino and celadon.
Shino glaze (志野釉, Shino uwagusuri) is a term for a family of glazes which tend to range in color from milky white to orange.
