There are many ways to throw a pot. Here's a video showing some basic throwing techniques for beginners. Once you have a basic understanding, you begin to find your own way with clay. It's a marvelous adventure.
For me there is little separation between prayer, nature, music, and making. Every piece is an attempt at better understanding how these things are connected and how they bring us closer to ourselves. Every day in the studio is an exploration of the soul. Sometimes it's silent and reflective. Sometimes it's raucus and celebratory. It's all prayer. It's all a celebration of life and an acknowledgment of the inexplicable energy that surrounds us and is in us and is infinite. It's centering, It's meditative. It's wild. And I feel called to do it. Every day.
